Kem Sehari Skuad Palma Emas 2023 – Fun and Educational Learning! πŸŒ±πŸ“š

Today, we share the extraordinary moments from the Kem Sehari Skuad Palma Emas, our annual programme touching the hearts of children aged 8-12. After a break since 2019, we’re back with fascinating modules on Biological Diversity in the Oil Palm Ecosystem and the Activity Book on Biological Diversity in the Oil Palm Ecosystem.

πŸ“…Date: 19 December 2023 (Tuesday)

⏰Time: 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

      Venue: Hutan Pendidikan Alam UKM

πŸŒπŸ“– An ideal blend of theory and educational tools, we bring a deep understanding of oil palm biodiversity into children’s learning experiences. The children of UKM staff came together to explore knowledge at the Hutan Pendidikan Alam (HPA), UKM on the 19th of December. The programme is a collaboration between the UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainability, FKAB UKM, the Center of Insect Systematics (CIS) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and the Institute of Climate Change (IPI).

Y. Bhg Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Azizan Baharuddin,

UKM-YSD Chairholder, shared her hope that children understand the benefits of oil palm for the country. “Through the Skuad Palma Emas, we educate them in a fun way about its role in the natural ecosystem. I believe this effort will yield results in 10 years.”

Dr. Peer Mohamed, Manager of the UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainability, highlighted the activities aimed at raising awareness about the biological diversity of the oil palm ecosystem and efforts to simplify complex information for children. Two guidebook volumes have been provided, ensuring enjoyable and informative learning.
