The annual atmospheric CO2 is the highest recorded in history (418.53 ppm in Nov 2022)
Mauna Loa is a global background observatory station that monitor the CO2 concentration of the Northern Hemisphere (global’s atmosphere). This station is located in Hawaii at altitude of 3400 m to cover the background atmosphere. The baseline of CO2 concentration showed increasing trend over 63 years (between 1959 and 2022). 2022 recorded the highest concentration of CO2 as compared to previous years. This data also showed 10-years average CO2 concentration rate had increased by from 1 ppm in 1959 to 2.5 ppm in 2022.
The Mauna Loa has served as the background atmospheric station for the northern Hemisphere.
