What is Climate Change?
Human activities are one of the main drivers of climate change globally and Malaysia. This results in higher temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, and more frequent extreme weathers. These changes are concerning as they affect the balance of the Earth and our welfares. To address these issues, Malaysia is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve climate resilience via sustainability actions.
Understanding Climate Change:
Evidences, Causes, and Effects
Overwhelming evidence have pointed to rapid warming of our Earth. Furthermore, destructive human activities are the main reasons behind climate change.
Thanks to the rapid advancement of technology, scientists are now having better understanding on the issues at hand. Thanks to the latest advance satellites, Petabytes of high-resolution data about climate of our planet have been gathered and published freely for public access.
Since the middle of the 20th century, human activity has been the main contributor driving global warming.
The use of fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, has increased greenhouse gases that trap heat radiated from both the Earth and the Sun, creating an energy imbalance in the atmosphere that leads to global warming.
The effects of human-caused global warming are already happening, maybe irreversible for the current generation, and will worsen as greenhouse gas emissions continue.
Signs of these effects include melting glaciers and ice caps, rising sea levels, extreme weathers, and many more. Scientists expect more damage from extreme weather events and ongoing temperature increases.
Be part of the solution.
Let’s work together to combat climate change!
Mitigation for climate change involves efforts aimed at reducing or preventing the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) that contribute to global warming and climate change. So, what can we do to mitigate climate change?
