The data used are primary and grey literature, providing basic information on the food waste issues in Southeast Asia and Malaysia.
This presentation provides general information on the food waste situation in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Malaysia, for a general audience. It draws on peer‑reviewed literature, national and international reports, and survey‑based research, presenting findings in simplified language and visual formats to enhance understanding and engagement.
The data highlight key drivers of household food waste in the Klang Valley and its impact on sustainability, including environmental, economic, and social aspects. Localized examples from Malaysia increase relevance, while the messages are applicable to broader audiences interested in reducing food waste and promoting sustainable consumption.
The presentation offers evidence‑based recommendations for individuals, businesses, and organizations, encouraging informed decision‑making and practical action. Rather than serving as a repository of raw data, it functions as a curated educational resource designed to foster awareness, reflection, and behaviour change.
By translating academic research into clear, actionable messages, the presentation empowers audiences to adopt more sustainable food practices and emphasizes the collective importance of reducing household food waste. Its approach bridges the gap between research and public engagement, making complex insights accessible and motivating meaningful everyday change.
The primary value of this data lies in its qualitative and interpretive nature, which allows complex research findings on food waste to be communicated in an accessible and meaningful way. Rather than focusing on raw numerical datasets, the data synthesize behavioural patterns and contextual factors influencing household food waste. This qualitative approach is particularly valuable for public engagement, as it helps audiences understand why food waste occurs and how everyday decisions contribute to broader environmental and social impacts.
