Local Perceptions about Climate Change and Sustainability Literacy in Kuala Gula, Perak

In an effort to establish baseline indicators for societal wellbeing and sustainability practices, after careful consideration and consultation, Kuala Gula community has been chosen as our target community. The main aim is to formulate the impact of climate change in terms of climate-related occurrences, socio-economic, coastal resources, and community livelihoods. Besides, Kuala Gula community’s perception of the climate and environmental changes were also surveyed.

 

Kuala Gula household’s vulnerability to climate change and coastal hazards was assessed by measuring exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity and estimating household willingness to pay for planned adaptation to measure the loss of economic value of residential properties and mangrove resources in coastal areas due to climate change in Kuala Gula coastline area.
