The inaugural Climate Action Festival at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was held today, together with the launch of UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainabilitys MyIKLIM Database! MyIKLIM is a first of its kind one-stop portal with a database on climate change with technical and layman-friendly information readily available for the public, academia, industry and policymakers.
 
The festival was launched by Y.A.M. Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, YSD Chairman, and attended by Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang, representing the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change (KASA).
 
The Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainability, the renowned Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Salleh Mohd Nor and Sime Darby Plantation Berhad’s Chief Sustainability Officer, En. Rashyid Anwarudin also delivered speeches on their perspectives on this important topic.
 
Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) had also awarded 3 promising individuals from underprivileged backgrounds with postgraduate scholarships under the UKM-YSD Sustainability Chair, on top of YSD’s RM15 million endowment fund for the Chair, intended to influence national climate action, promote zero waste technologies and automation, and advocate sustainability practices through small partnerships with local communities.
