Figure shows Total Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) at 550nm in
March 2024 focused on entire Malaysia
The Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) is commonly used as a proxy of air pollutant condition.
Aerosol optical depth (AOD) is a measure of the total amount of aerosol in a vertical column of the atmosphere. This data provides values for total AOD as well as individually for organic matter, black carbon, sea salt, desert dust, and sulphate aerosols. Atmospheric aerosols are small particles or liquid droplets that are suspended in the atmosphere. They can originate from various sources, including dust, volcanic eruptions which can form aerosols, wildfires and as well as human activities such as industrial processes, vehicle emissions, and power plant emissions.
Daily model reanalysis AOD data were obtained from CAMS, the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) at
https://ads.atmosphere.copernicus.eu/#!/home.
It is a set of model output result that has been assimilated with various measurement data from ground measurement, satellite and others. The data is available from May 2022 to February 2024 with the spatial resolution 0.5° × 0.65° of latitude and longitude.
